What is the Capital of Sweden

Sweden is a wonderful country to visit on a vacation or just to learn about as their history is very long and full of several different cultures. There are influences of the Norse, French, Italian, and many other countries in Sweden. One of the most prominent areas of Sweden is the capital. So, what is the capital of Sweden? The capital of Sweden is Stockholm. Stockholm has been the capital of Sweden since the 1200's when it was established as a political and economic base as well as a border to prevent further destruction of the Swedish people.

Sweden sits on the Baltic Sea and therefore is very influential on traffic to Finland and through to Russia. This has meant in the past that the Swedish ports were extremely important especially the archipelago and the mouth of Lake Malaren. Since the history has shown how important the land of Stockholm has been in history it is no wonder that it was established as the capital in the 1200's to avoid further violence from spreading into the country. Many of the isles and area around Stockholm was under siege until it could be made a force of power. You will find that today Stockholm is made up of 11 municipalities, and has over 1,700,000 in population.

Stockholm Sweden is still a very large hot spot for tourists traveling around the country as well as for trade. You will find that as a political power and for economic growth Stockholm is the center of the people.

You will find that in Stockholm the climate will vary. In fact the northern latitudes are going to be a little cooler due to the fact that it is a higher elevation than the rest of the city. You will find that during the winter solstice you are going to get about six hours of day light, and during the summer solstice there will be more than eighteen hours of sunlight. The temperatures vary from the thirties in winter to the seventies in the summer.

Currently when you speak of the economics in Stockholm you are going to find that it is a service industry. In other words despite the government facilities in the capital there are going to be more jobs in the service industries such as agriculture, shipping, and factory work than there will be in anything else in the city. You will also find that Stockholm offers one of the cleanest metropolises that you will ever find. They believe in recycling, the environment and protecting what they have. You will find that while you are visiting Stockholm there are many restaurants, hotels, and museums to visit. In fact there are several older buildings that have been around for centuries such as churches for you to enjoy. You will also be able to see Parliament while you are traveling around the streets of Stockholm Sweden.

Stockholm also offers some of the finest education in the country with the Stockholm Observatory and the Karolinska Institute.

Mark down landmarks near the hotel if you plan to walk so that you can easily spot the direction of your residency for the time of your stay.
