Map of Sweden – Planning Your Holiday

A holiday of any kind normally involves some type of planning and organising, and that includes researching your trip, reserving and paying for it.  Before jetting of to Sweden, some useful items like a map of Sweden, an itinerary of your trip, travel and road guides and of course your insurance documentation and not forgetting your passport.

Before you do any of the exciting bits, like working your last day before the holiday and hopping on the plane, it is very wise to organise your holiday so that you can make the most of it.  Carrying out a bit of research on where to go and what to do whilst you're there can mean that you have a smooth holiday.

Buying a map of Sweden is fairly important if you plan to experience different area's of this stunning country, indeed finding the best map of Sweden can be time consuming so try ordering one or two in advance and make sure you can read them and they contain the information you are looking for.  If you are intending to travel around many parts of the country, you are most likely planning a longer trip than if you were visiting over a weekend.  In this case, a larger road map of Sweden which not only gives you a way to plan your route but provides locations of nature reserves and outdoor walks will be a great help.  A good bit of advice if you only intend to visit one city or town, is to buy a map of Sweden that shows you the different districts, parks, museums and hotels so that you can easily find your way around the city whether you plan to walk or taking a taxi.

The reason it's a good idea to plan ahead, especially for those shorter trips, is so that you don't find yourself spending some of your holiday time attempting to plan your preferred routes to and from places of interest.  It's also advised simply because it can be very easy to become disorientated in an unfamiliar country and, should you be unfortunate enough to become lost or unsure of your whereabouts, a backup map of Sweden with your hotel or residency address can get you out of trouble.

Another map to be aware of is a 'political' map of Sweden.  This kind of map clearly points out the different political areas of the country and can help you inform your insurance company of exactly where you plan to go.  This map clearly indicates the split of major cities, a little like a UK map would perhaps show you different counties.  This way, when you decide which specific areas you want to travel to, you can then buy a map of Sweden that narrows down that political area so you have the road routes, hotel details, attractions, nature walks and other areas of interest.

Sweden History Tip #1

Always remember to carry a map of Sweden when you visit, mark on it the whereabouts of your hotel and the full address and keep it with you when you travel. Mark down landmarks near the hotel if you plan to walk so that you can easily spot the direction of your residency for the time of your stay.

Sweden History Tip #2

If you plan to travel to Northern Sweden to experience the Northern Lights and the Ice Hotel, pack accordingly and remember warm clothing, especially in winter months. Thermal underwear is highly recommended on top of hats, scarves and a couple of pairs of gloves – there's nothing worse than packing just one pair and losing one glove!
