Culture Sweden - Sweden and its Nordic Neighbors

European culture makes it a part of the world that many people want to visit, but it's exactly that which makes it difficult to select just one place in Europe to visit. Sampling the many different delights available in each individual Scandinavian country is just one thing that makes the choice a difficult one – where to visit, which parts of a country to experience, where to stay. If you are looking for a holiday crammed with culture Sweden is one of the most beautiful places to visit and we want to tell you simply about Scandinavia and the culture within it, specifically Sweden.

If you are choosing a route through Scandinavia as a part of your next holiday, you may be interested to know that Scandinavia, otherwise known as the Nordics, is made up of four countries. The countries are Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway and each is as stunning as the next.

Whilst Finland and Denmark are equally as stunning as Finland and Sweden, it is clear that the trends here completely differ from the rest of Europe. Sweden is a rich country, it is powerful and it's economy is strong and stable. People choose to visit here to see the sights and sample the history and culture Sweden has to offer.

Walking through various towns and cities within Scandinavia, we have to mention Sweden and its capital as one of the places that cannot be missed whilst you visit. Stockholm is a very trendy place to visit, as well as being extremely laid back. The people in Stockholm are incredibly welcoming and whether you visit in summer or winter, there is always an element of being bowled over with the sights here.

The air is pure and clean throughout the country but here in Stockholm the walks through the cobbled streets and wonderfully hidden squares provide the discerning visitor with fantastic memories to return home with, and as for culture Sweden itself has a vibrant mix which stems from it's history when the country was visited by groups of people from all over Europe – Germany, Spain, France – in addition to the clear American influence. Stockholm has the most amazing clean air and the centre of the city is made up of fourteen islands so the water and the green beauty here make for an amazing holiday.

In addition to Stockholm, it is hard to beat any attraction you can find in the North of the country where you can take advantage of another magnificent experience, The Ice Hotel. The hotel is made entirely of blue ice and has to be rebuilt every single winter by different architects after its ice melts during spring time. For this added bit of fun, leave behind a bit of this unusual Sweden culture for a couple of hours and visit the Northern Lights in Kiruna.

Beauty, history, cleanliness and culture – Sweden has it all and it really is a shame for anyone to miss this country in their lifetime. Though you may want to book a couple of weeks if you prefer to take your time and match the relaxed pace of the Swedish!

Sweden History Tip #1

Always remember to carry a map of Sweden when you visit, mark on it the whereabouts of your hotel and the full address and keep it with you when you travel. Mark down landmarks near the hotel if you plan to walk so that you can easily spot the direction of your residency for the time of your stay.

Sweden History Tip #2

If you plan to travel to Northern Sweden to experience the Northern Lights and the Ice Hotel, pack accordingly and remember warm clothing, especially in winter months. Thermal underwear is highly recommended on top of hats, scarves and a couple of pairs of gloves – there's nothing worse than packing just one pair and losing one glove!

Sweden History Tip #3

Gothenburg Sweden is just one of many things to see in Sweden. A good idea is to plan your trip in advance so that you can get to see the best of the best. The place is full of history, glorious scenery, architecture and quaint little buildings.
